Released in November 2004, Flat Out looked to reinvent the racing/driving genre, by making the gameplay fun. To a large extent, it succeeded, and the game, on PS2, PC and Xbox has sold 800,000 copies to date. That may not seem a lot compared to the Halo 2';s in the industry, but it is some feat considering it';s release was fairly quiet, and it';s not a first-party or even particularly large third-party title.
The basic premise in Flat Out is to race around a circuit, finishing first, and gaining points along the way. You get these points by ramming your opponents, and destroying the level';s scenery '; often creating obstacles for the other racers.
Bugbear, the developers, have given the features of the sequel, along with the key news that there will be over 5,000 destructible objects on the average track. This, accompanied with 40 deformable vehicle parts, should mean the world will virtually collapse around you as you speed past, causing unavoidable havoc for any cars behind.
Flat Out 2 is basically double Flat Out the original. That';s not as in a copy double, but it has pretty much twice the amount of features of its predecessor. Here is the gist of them: Score:
