New Spore Games in Production - January 22nd 2009 2009 is set to be the year of EA's Spore, with four unique titles raiding our consoles, handhelds and computers over the next 12 month, most excitingly including the Wii, it was unveiled today. |

| The four titles are: Spore: Galactic Adventures, Spore: Creature Keeper, Spore: Hero and Spore: Hero Arena (working titles).
The first, Galactic Adventures, is the previously announced expansion to the main game on PC. This is set to expand the space-facet of the critically acclaimed game, with customisable missions and a diverse experience the order of the day. The 'Adventure Creator' looks like the evolution of the 'Creature Creator' bundled with the original game, but also available separately. These are images from the main, original Spore, an instant classic. Creature Keeper seems like a PC version of Nintendogs, but featuring your created Spore creatures rather than lovable Labradors. Designed for young gamers, it allows you to nurture, train and play with the creature. Online 'play-dates' are also cited as a feature. Perhaps most excitingly is Spore Hero, a Wii game. This is an adventure game with a clear focus on creativity and something that has been created from scratch for Nintendo's market-leading console. Spore Hero Arena is the DS alternative, but rather than an adventure game it is more of a Pokemon Stadium clone, featuring creature creation but focusing on combat and battles. A focus on space and galactic play seems to be the order of the day in the expansion. “Last year was a very exciting year for Maxis with the release of Spore. We were overwhelmed by the massive response to the game from the millions of people that created, shared and played in the Spore universe,” said General Manager of Maxis, Lucy Bradshaw. “This year we’re going to experiment with new experiences that extend the powerful creativity tools of Spore to all-new audiences. With the universe as our backdrop, the only limit in the Spore universe is your own imagination.” - News posted by Mike Hazleton ------------------------------------ | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
